The Fall River United travel program provides the opportunity for boys and girls to participate in a competitive youth soccer environment that promotes excellence and sportsmanship.  Fall River United fields 20+ travel teams ages 8 through 18.  The commitment level expected on a travel team is greater than our recreational program; coaches may expect players to train multiple times per week and play games on either Saturday or Sunday throughout the year.

Our seasons are made up of Spring (April-June) and Fall (September-November). Generally there are 4 home and 4 away games. These teams play in the South Coast Soccer League (SCSL) which makes up Southeastern Massachusetts including Cape Cod and Islands. Our travel teams compete in the South Coast Soccer League (SCSL), which is comprised of teams from 21 local towns’ soccer programs.  The league within each age group has two divisions, based on level of play. Fall River United and the South Coast Soccer League operate under the guidance of The Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (Mass Youth Soccer) a non-profit corporation dedicated to the task of promoting and enhancing the culture of soccer in Massachusetts.

Beginning Aug. 1, 2016, US Youth Soccer began using the following birth‐year “labels” for competition, based upon the season in which competition ends. For example the 2019-20 soccer year:

  • Players born during the year 2001 will be labeled as 19 and Under
  • Players born during the year 2002 will be labeled as 18 and Under
  • Players born during the year 2003 will be labeled as 17 and Under
  • Players born during the year 2004 will be labeled as 16 and Under
  • Players born during the year 2005 will be labeled as 15 and Under
  • Players born during the year 2006 will be labeled as 14 and Under
  • Players born during the year 2007 will be labeled as 13 and Under
  • …and so on.
  • The age group “label” will be determined by subtracting the year in which the players participating in the competition were born from the year in which competition ends. For example, a player born in 2005 subtracted from 2020 (the end of the 2019/20 soccer year) makes them a 15U.

The change to birth year age groups and to the “labels” for naming each age group have been made by U.S. Soccer.
